Specialist benefit rates may be claimed only by a physician who has received a specialist certificate in accordance with the Medical Profession Act.

An interim certificate issued by the CPSA will be accepted in lieu of a formal certificate where a physician has completed the requirements for a specialist certificate and is awaiting formal recognition.

Physicians that are recognized as having more than one specialty designation from the CPSA shall use the skill code appropriate to the services they are providing or for which the referral was requested.
