• Contact the patient to confirm country of residence. An invoice may be sent to the patient if they are: • opted out of the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan but are residents of Alberta • non residents of Canada – consider if they have travelers insurance or are covered by another plan i.e. Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)– if yes, bill Medavie Blue Cross, sign up process required to collect payment.

  • Non residents of Canada that are not covered through IFHP or other government program may be charged rates in excess of those listed in the Schedule of Medical Benefits • are residents of Canada but do not have valid coverage in any province – residents of Canada must be charged the rates that are listed in the SOMB
